MXL Multipurpose DX2 Editorial Review
The MXL DX2 Dual Dynamic Capsule Microphone has garnered attention for its remarkable ability to capture a wide range of tones, particularly for guitar amplifiers. Users have praised its dual capsule design, which allows them to blend between a brighter sound and a darker tone, offering greater flexibility in sound shaping compared to traditional microphones. Many musicians and recording engineers have expressed satisfaction, noting that the DX2 can stand toe-to-toe with higher-end mics like the Shure SM57, Considering it a worthwhile addition to their studio equipment. One of the standout features highlighted in reviews is the user-friendly knob that allows for easy adjustment between the two capsules, resulting in a sound that can be finely tailored to specific needs across different tracks. The durability of the Construction is also noted, with a solid metal body and a dependable stand mount, making it suitable for both studio and live applications. However, some users have mentioned a need for a clearer indication on the microphone to help position it correctly relative to the speaker for optimal sound quality. It appears that the mic performs best when placed a few inches away from the speaker cone rather than resting directly on the grill cloth. The overall impression is that while the DX2 may require some experimentation to achieve the best results, its affordability and innovative design make it a commendable choice for musicians looking to enhance their sound. ###
