Renegade Game Studios Games RGS01117 Editorial Review
The G.I. Joe Roleplaying Game Cobra Codex Sourcebook has received a mixed reception from avid G.I. Joe fans and RPG enthusiasts alike. Primarily designed as an expansion for players wanting to delve deeper into the lore and character creation aspects of the Cobra faction, it offers a well-organized overview of Cobra’s motivations, members, and logistics. Many users appreciate the ability to create unique Cobra characters, and the sourcebook presents a solid framework for understanding the complexities of playing as part of a "villainous" organization. However, some customers expressed disappointment regarding the limited content dedicated to vehicles and weaponry, which was a significant part of their expectations based on the book's description. There are notably only three vehicles featured alongside a sparse assortment of weapon stats linked to specific character stat blocks instead of a dedicated weapons list. Despite these criticisms, the overall quality of the book's physical elements, such as paper weight, binding, and the inclusion of a cloth bookmark, has been widely praised. Buyers particularly enjoyed the nostalgic value of the material, recognizing it as a special collectible that immerses them in the G.I. Joe universe. Fans have noted that while the book may not suffice for every aspect of gameplay, it serves as an enjoyable supplement that enriches the G.I. Joe RPG experience, particularly for those interested in exploring the perspective of the antagonists. Players have lauded the sourcebook for its ability to foster creative gameplay scenarios, whether focusing on heists or civil strife within Cobra ranks. **
