Hypertech Speedometers Editorial Review
The Hypertech 742501 Speedometer Calibrator has garnered mixed reviews from customers who appreciate its functionality but express concerns regarding its compatibility and setup process. Users have generally found it effective in recalibrating their speedometers to account for oversize tires and ensuring accurate readings, a particularly important feature for those compensated based on mileage. The installation and reprogramming process is perceived as straightforward, with many users noting that it typically takes only a short amount of time—around 10 to 20 minutes—to achieve desired results. However, some reviewers have faced challenges, particularly related to the device’s compatibility with certain differential gear ratios, such as the limits encountered in Ford Mustang models. Furthermore, a significant issue arose for one customer who received a used product that was 'married' to another vehicle, which rendered it unusable without additional fees from Hypertech. This incident has raised concerns about purchasing used units, especially regarding their availability and potential hidden costs. In conclusion, while the Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator performs well in terms of adjusting speedometers and is easy to use once set up, users should be cautious about buying a used product and ensure compatibility with their specific vehicle before purchasing. **
